Solar Circle by peaceofthenorth
So I was at the driving range today, looked up saw the sun looking kind of … ... thought I should take some shots of it. / I set up at a range of 1/2000 of a sec at f 5 to this shot which was 1/8000 of a sec at f 3.5 After we loaded it up we noticed what we thought might be a solar flare at its northern pole. We went to a NASA site were I was redirected to a news review that stated there has been some recent solar flares. / Not really being sure whether you can see them like this or not, if not….still a neat shot. /

golden rays of light by Joel Wigley
I saw this sunset on the way home from work and thought it looked great. I decided to head up the back of Mount Taylor to see if I could get a better view of the skyline. This is what I saw…

gloryous ! by dinghysailor1
This is a hurried picture taken on my pocket camera as we came into land on 11/6/08 just an hour before sunset. I am posting it for for interest as I think is another of those ‘brocken spectre glory’ things that I learnt about on redbubble (of course!). A snatched pic, not great quality due to engine vibration but fascinating to see that the shadow of the plane is projected onto the clouds below encircled by a perfect rainbow! ...something to do with the water droplets in the air! This is my second upload of this briefly seen ‘glory’ – tweaked this time with the help of the wonderfully talented Ern Mainka and Rosslyn Lunetta who know about these things! This has helped to bring out the beautiful rainbow colours which I saw even through the grubby plane window… / Sooo appreciated guys!! :))) For fuller details of what I think this may be do see the wonderful image and description by the amazing Ern Mainka / Brocken Spectre and Glory Also see Roslyn Lunetta’s amazing early morning Glory / and phenomenal glory and plane shadow For the original version see bullseye / (straightened – otherwise untouched )

Double Rainbow Foxen Canyon by Cathy Gregg
After chasing this rainbow for more than an hour it finally turned double! Taken just outside of a small town called Los Olivos, California in the Santa Ynez Valley. This town became popular due to the movie Sideways. This area has more beauty than just wine. Foxen Canyon was named after Captain Benjamin Foxen of the California Bear Flag Republic.

Hat & halo by Duncan Waldron
I was bemoaning the appearance of cloud today, in anticipation of an astronomy evening, but when this halo appeared, accompanied by weak sundogs and a circumzenithal arc, I was much appeased.
