  • Belsay by Bootkneck

Belsay Castle / Belsay Castle is a 14th century medieval castle situated at Belsay, Northumberland. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building. / The main structure, a substantial three storey rectangular pele tower with rounded turretts and battlements was constructed about 1370, and was the home of the Middleton family . / The changing faces of Belsay Castle provide a neat illustration of the turbulent history of the border region. The oldest part of the building is a large defensive tower, built during a period of turbulent border warfare in this area in the late fourteenth century. The seventeenth century manor house is one of the earliest undefended manor houses in Northumberland and reflects the more settled conditions following the Union of the Crowns of England and Scotland in 1603.

  • Dunstanburgh Castle - Northumberland by Steve Smith

The castle occupies a prominent headland about one mile north of Craster. On the south side there is a gentle slope towards the castle. The northerly approach is much steeper and the northern perimeter juts into Embleton Bay forming a 150-foot cliff. The headland itself is part of the Great Whin Sill, a geological formation stretching across Northumberland. There are signs of medieval rig-and-furrow on the slopes near to the castle – possible evidence of subsistence farming for the castle inhabitants.

  • The Reise of Autumn - Collaboration with Gary Murison by Shelly Hiebert

So Gary Murison and I have been playing again! Well actually Gary has been….I just provided him with the original shot. I am very thrilled with what he did and I hope you all will appreciate it as well :) ‘Reise’ is the german word for travels. Since I travelled there in the fall two years ago, and in this image it is as if the Castle is rising and travelling from the Autumn trees we felt this to be an appropriate title. This is Neushwanstein castle located in Germany. Original photo taken with a Nikon D70 Thanks Gary :) The original
