  • OrangeHaze by wombatwal

    Taken at Christchurch Botanic Gardens, New Zealand. / Pentax K100D Super / Sigma 17-70mm / f5.6 / 1/180s / iso 200

  • Designed by Nature by gardenerpat

This photograph was taken two years ago, but it wasn’t until just now that I discovered the shape the rhododendrons and tulips formed together. This is actually a vertical photo, but the RB process apparently made it horizontal instead. Try to look at it with your head tilted a bit to the right!

  • Flame Azalea by Gary L. Suddath

Flame Azalea, (rhododendron calendulaceum) is one of the nine rhododendron genus shrubs growing in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is often confused with the Cumberland Azalea which is on the red side of orange, while the flame azalea is on the yellow side. These shrubs may start blooming in the lower elevations mid April and May. The higher elevations and balds are in June and July. Some of the best displays in the park are at Gregory and Andrews Balds or along the Balsam Mountain Road….. William Bartram, an early botanist, discovered flame azaleas in 1791, he described the plant as “certainly the most gay and brilliant flowering shrub yet known.”

  • Resolutions and Aiming for in 2009 on Redbubble / (This should be done by everyone on redbubble, in order to stimulate everyone and to do his/her best to promote his/her art. I hope that this journal is accepted in every group. This will produce more constructive work both for the individuals and also for the groups) 2008 has passed by and a new year has started. Everyone has his/her own resolutions and aims for the New Year. I will discuss mine with you. Emotions / On several times, I was on the verge of leaving Redbubble, but there was always something that told me NO. Most of this something was YOU : / YOU who bought my card, / YOU who add me to your watchlist, / YOU who favored my work, and / YOU who commented on my work. 2008 / So, with your help, this year I will aim for big!! / During 2008 I had nearly 20000 views(19506) on my art (excluding journals & clothing). / During December 2008 I had over 3000 views, my work was featured 25 times, I was featured 4 times, 2* of my art were used as avatars and I had a *photo featured on the redbubble homepage. 2009 / For 2009 I am aiming for some 36000 views (bringing a total of some 56000). / I am also aiming to sell at least SIX pieces of art. / (all this can only happen with your help). Also, since October, I stared my Monthly Journals where I record all my happenings in the respective month. Another idea that I came with was to create journals which gather together some photos to form a set. In this way, people visiting your page can get a good picture of what you are up to, and instead of one photo, you can sell a whole set:- / Maltese Boats / From the Past / I will gradually continue to increase these number of sets, and I will create a new Journal called Sets which will include a link to alll my sets. Now, YOU - / What are your aims? / What are you expecting from yourself in redbubble during 2009 ? Is there anything that I can help you with? / DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME. / (by the way – I am just a rookie/amateur in photography, but I am sure that I will expand my talent AND YOU CAN DO IT TOO) I JUST HOPE THAT WITH THIS JOURNAL I AM DELIVERING SOMETHING POSITIVE TO YOU MY LATEST WORK / Regards, Christian Zammit / Visit my gallery / Monthly Journals

  • Catawba Rhododendron by Gary L. Suddath

The Catawba (rhododendron catawbiense) are the beauty of the high mountains. In the Smokies it is found above 3500 feet, and is the pinkish purple rhododendron. In some places they cover entire balds with their beauty. The leaves are similar to the rosebay but are a little smaller and rounder on the tip. The early bee keepers had to pay attention to where they placed their hives as honey made from either the Catawba or Rosebay is toxic…Some of the places these beauties can be seen are near New Found Gap on US 441, Andrews Bald, and Alum Cave Bluff Trail…Outside the park along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Roan Mountain of upper east Tennessee is know for the showing there.
