Only created for the Pinto challenge, please do not feel obliged to comment!!! This is basically the same concept as my The Sky’s The Limit images….. However the only action shot I had of Pinto and Toby was littered with buildings, horses and people! So out came the old eraser! And a bit of sky!

  • Paseo Español by Squealia

A Spanish man showing off his horse and it’s Paseo Español skills at the Fiesta de Caballos, San Miguel de Salinas, 04.10.08. Captured by a friend Tom, I had no camera that day as I participated on our nag! • Horse Rider by Dave Miller

Taken at Appleby Horse Fair, after swimming across a deep pool in the river, the horse has just touched the bottom again and is trying to jump out of the water. Extra Note about the day, My daughter & 2 of her friends (all 15 year olds) went with me one year. The horses are brought down to the river to be washed and have fun in the water. The girls just stood around near the access point hoping to get involved, well this gypsy owner came down with 5 horses, looked at the girls keen faces and said take them in for me, so they jumped at the chance. All their clothes on straight in, it’s about 30cm deep at the access point then as you ride them round to the start of the deep hole, its 1m deep. Swimming across the deep hole gets them soaked up to the neck and more if you fall off. A fantastic time was had by them all, they were in the river for 2 hours but would not come out even though they were freezing. Lucky a said bring some spare clothes just in case you get to have a go.

  • After the Ride by Emily Peak

By popular demand-the story behind this photo! / This is one of my dearest friends,Kim and her horse Jack. She bought Jack as a 2 yr. old and had big plans to show him in eventing. Well, time went by and between demands of being a business owner, land owner and mom, the horses were on the back burner. She was only able to school him 1-2 times a week and trail ride. No time to condition or haul. She decided to sell him in hopes he would find an eventing home who would take him and use him to his potential.Meanwhile he was not enjoyable to really trail ride on due to his jigging and anxiety. / Well the day this pic was shot, we had hauled down to an eventing barn to school for an extreme cowboy race. Kim decided to ride him over a few fences in the ring afterwards since he had enjoyed th XC so much. During this last part of her ride, she was SMILING from ear to ear on this horse like I have NEVER seen before! They both had enjoyed each other and the job for the first time ever! She got off and proceeded to kiss Jack and give him hugs. I was lucky enough to have been there to witness and to snap this! / She recently just sold Jack to a vet student who has hopes to show him over fences. *FEATURED in the Horse and Rider Group Oct. 26th,2008

About This Group

No one comes to a discussion of the horse empty handed: we arrive with the burden of six thousand years of accumulated knowledge, gratitude, myth and hearsay. Our two species are permanently and inextricably linked. Over the centuries we have trained horses to perform successfully in many spheres of the human experience, including agriculture, sport and war. They have lived and died beside us and it is hard to imagine what our lives would be like if their domestication had never occurred.” Andrew McLean.

Dressage is a French word, which roughly translates as “training”. Dressage is a basic training of all riding horses. Showjumpers, Show Hacks and Pleasure horses will all benefit from dressage training – dressage training creates a horse that is more comfortable, safe and pleasurable to ride. This groups goal is to depict safe and humane training of the horse in all equestrian disciplines. It is hoped submissions will include pure Dressage, Showjumping, Riening, Eventing, Racing, Hunting, Trail Riding, Endurance and Showing to name a few. The one rule is that all art must include the human partner be it rider, groom or even owner, each submission must depict the bond between the horse and mankind.

“Wherever man has left his footprints in the long ascent from barbarism to civilization, we find the hoofprint of a horse beside it.”
John Trotwood Moore
