Q e 2 by Bootkneck
Woodhorn is a village in Northumberland, England about 2 miles (3 km) east of Ashington. The village is sometimes identified with Wucestre, given to St Cuthbert by King Ceowulf when he gave up his throne in 737 to become a monk at Lindisfarne. A medieval bell at Woodhorn, inscribed Ave Maria; is said to be one of the oldest in existence. Economy / The main employment was at the coal mine. The mine has since closed and the site has been landscaped incorporating a lake and known as Queen Elizabeth II Country Park. Some of the mine building have been retained and are used as a visitor centre.

New Year's Eve On Sydney Harbour - Sneak Preview by Peter Hill
Oooh, I am naughty! With a security guard sitting right beside me, I shot the north-eastern pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as they prepared the light show for tomorrow night! And they also revealed the mystery emblem on the Bridge itself! Canon EOS 5D Mark II, / Canon EF 24-105mm L zoom lens / Straight from the camera.

Cruising by Wendi Donaldson
The bicycle tied up at the dock made me chuckle. It looked like maybe the cyclist had left it there to board the cruiseship! Canon 400D FEATURED in NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY (01 05 09) Many thanks to the judges of this group for this feature. Greatly appreciated.

GOD'S LIGHTNING SHOW by SMOKEYDOGSOCKS
MAY 12, 1988: ON TOP OF MOUNT VACA LOOKING OVER THE TOWN OF VACAVILLE CALIFORNIA AND SACRAMENTO VALLEY TOWARDS RIO VISTA. THE LIGHTNING STORM STARTED IN THE SIERRAS AND TRAVELED ACROSS THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY ALL THE WAY AROUND THE CASCADE MOUNTAINS TO THE NAPA VALLEY. ABOUT 20 SECONDS AFTER LEAVING MY PARKING SPOT, WHERE I TOOK THIS PHOTO FROM, DAYLIGHT HAPPENED. THE LIGHTNING STRIKE WAS SO INTENSE, THAT MY FRIEND WHO WAS WITH ME AND JUST HAPPENED TO BE BLIND, SAID HE WAS ABLE TO SEE SOME OF THE LIGHT IN WHAT LITTLE VISSION HE HAD. AND BELIEVE ME, HE COULDN’T SEE THAT MUCH. THIS PHOTO MAKES A GREAT 20X30 TO HANG ON THE WALL, MAYBE OVER A FIREPLACE MANTLE. / LIGHTNING STRIKES LIKE THESE HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO BE OVER 10,000 DEGREES IN TEMPERATURE AT THE CORE OF THE STRIKE, WHICH MIGHT ONLY BE ONE INCH IN DIAMETER. THIS SHOT WAS A MULTIPLE EXPOSURE SHOT OF 4 EXPOSURES OF 20 SECONDS EACH WITH A CABLE SHUTTER RELEASE ON A TRIPOD. THE CAMERA WAS A CANON EOS 620 WITH THE SHUTTER SET ON THE B SETTING AND THE F STOP WAS SET AT FF:22, SO I WOULDN’T OVER EXPOSE THE CITY LIGHTS.

Advent calendar House by Meike
Here we see a house in Bernkastel made as an Advent Calendar. Each day they open a window and a new winter picture appears…. unfortunately they do not throw chocolate out of the windows…lol. They also play some life music (here a woman playing trumpet down in the bottown window).

About This Group
This can include night, dusk, twilight or early dawn photographs of architectural content, including features such as piers, buildings, road transport and bridges. There may be the magic of motion capture at night, such as brake light and headlight trails, fire movement and motion blur when passing objects etc; Reflections in water is also a large component of night photography. How will the group evolve? Well that is up to us.
