Dublin Lose by Philip Rogan

I honestly cannot remember when this photo was taken but I would think about 1997. We were down in Thurles to watch Dublin play Gaelic football against god knows who. Anyway despite our best support and the teams best effort, we lost. The atmosphere between the fans and the locals afterwards was absolutely brilliant. A huge party erupted in the centre of Thurles and the Dubs had as good a time as the winners, from Clare or Tipp or Cork or wherever they were from. / The connection between these strangers was probably based on the idea of sharing but not letting go of the bottle. A trust thing but who knows?

literally…..well ok maybe metaphorically as well….. I had a studio in the building on the right of your screen for nearly four years and it was a great studio in a complex of some dozens of other artists….. but it was located in the utter bowels of the inner city…. in the back of the industial estates and railway lines…. leaving there late at night was spooky to say the least …... here I’ve taken a quick snap out the window of the car as I left very very late one night….. this is the studio where I obsessed about Antarctica and this year past I achieved that goal… exactly this time last year I was in there in the frozen fairyland as an artist….. now I have a new goal….. wish me luck…..:)

this is my very first post for the year so I thought I’d put something a little more considered up…. sometimes in moments of lucid dreaming I think that I can’t remember my real name… not the name my parents gave me but a deeper name…. sometimes I have a sense of that deeper self within but it’s elusive and emphemeral …. but I think about it sometimes…... if I could remember my real name I’d have a better idea of what I’m supposed to be doing in the world…... if I could remember my name this is most likely what I be like…or that’s what I would like to think anyway …... so although this is not actually me…. it is also me…. but nameless. maybe this is from a dream… I can never be sure with some work…. this is one of those works….. anyway …. this started out in life as black and white 35mm negative that has been processed and scanned then digitally handcoloured
