My Father's Heart

My Father's Heart by Dawne Olson

My Father's Heart

The early morning sun streaming through the East window of our bedroom enhanced the warmth of this tender moment between my daughter and her father. She loved Saturday mornings because of the opportunity to snuggle up closer to her father when he didn’t have to leave for work. I relinquished my place in our bed to grab my camera and capture this special time. This picture was taken 10 years ago, and my little girl is now a teenager who still loves to crawl up into her daddy’s lap. On a spiritual note, I have spent many years trying to sort out the “character” of God… His presence in our lives, if He is demanding or compassionate? When I see this picture I understand the heart of a father towards his child and I can believe that I am cherished by our Father in Heaven. Some people believe there is no God. I can understand that too. But to borrow a quote from a favorite movie of mine, (Second Hand Lions) “Sometimes the thing we need most to believe in may or may not be true.” Whatever you choose to believe in, if it is good for your heart, then cling to it with all your might.

Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, LORD, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past.
NLT Isaiah 63:16

A tender greeting for a Father’s Day card!

ohh, this is my favorite of any image here on Redbubble. It makes me wish I were little again, back at home..so I could do this just one more time. I miss my Daddy, this made me cry. Thank you for sharing this beautiful picture and story.

What a tremendous compliment Andrea. As daughters who are cherished by their fathers, are we not always in their hearts in this way? Even if they are not physically present? :o) xx

Thank you Mark.. I’m glad you were touched by it. I took this picture when I was still shooting with film. When I developed the pictures several months later – I literally got goose bumps!

This is so awesome I almost have tears in my eyes. As a young believer (not in age) one day I was lying in bed and just loving on the Lord. I closed my eyes and I was in His embrace. The love and security your daughter feels is what I felt in the arms of the Lord. I thank you and your family for sharing this photo. Blessings.
