Upper Antelope Canyon

Is a spectacular petrified sand dune, created by wind, water and sand, presenting a sculptured masterpiece.
My Navajo Indian guide was lovely and explained many of the legends associated with this area.

Was so lucky at one point to have the canyon to myself, peaceful, serene and incredibly beautiful.

Thanks, this is the actual colour. Antelope canyon has various shades of orange, yellow, red, purple and brown. Will post another shot later showing all the various combinations and formations :)

I know it can be, but it is still amazing!.. I remember going on 4-wheel drive safari on Rainbow beach going from Fraser Island in Noosa, and the colours of the sand were amazing, soooo colourful! Need to go there again to take photos!

I shoot from the hip basically, in a place like that you really don’t have much time to plan do you?. Apparently there are photographic tours you can go on but I wasn’t thrilled at the idea of others with tripods LOL…...... I was so lucky to get the canyon to myself for a fair while then managed to have a play !! I am rather proud of this one, it’s hard to shoot something original from such a popular spot. Yes Var, I do know what you mean about the timing and planning. And Yes I also heard about the photographic tour but decided against it, maybe for the same reason’s..lol it was so long ago I don’t remember. And Kudos to you for getting such a time to yourself, the Navajo’s are such lovely people are they not! You should be proud of this one..I haven’t seen one like this..so yes, take it and run baby!..LOL

They won’t let you hike to Antelope Canyon apparently, you only have up to 2 hour time limit there :)

I love the way you composed the picture with the three tiers coming down to the water’s edge and the fragile lighting just barely showing the lines in the formations. FANTASTIC!! I have to know – did you place the tuft of flower on the ledge ? It adds incredibley to the whole.

Kind of never got to it myself, always meant to, but kind of got involved buying cars and being in bands and then before I knew it married and kids. Still I am blessed to have such amazing places within a few hours of home and one day I’ll do it although now it will probably be when my kids have flown the coop, life’s good ;-) Just hard when horribly talented people like you take every opportunity to rub my nose in it, lol.
