Thank you Stacy – I have been compiling a huge library of texture photos (mostly shot around my house and surrounding areas) and I love to apply them in subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) ways!

Thanks Ivor – in the original photo – the model was wearing the wings (which she also made!) and leaning into a spotlight (in front of a courthouse actually!)
I applied one texture layer using a macro photo taken in my flowergarden, and another using emulsion scratches on film negative.
I thin that all the manipulation in the world can’t do much to improve a mediocre photo – and luckily – the unedited version of this is one of my best!

Sharra – I shot this at night in front of the old Courthouse in downtown Decatrur Georgia. The model was wearing the wings (she designs and sews her own costumes) and was leaning into a very bright spotlight so I could get the high contrast effect… I then used a couple of texture layers in editing to give this more of a painting type feel… Glad you like it!
I have two primary models – the one in this picture is Halley – she was actually an employee of mine back when I was a retail manager – and my second main model – Laurie Love – is someone I found through a networking site…Both of them have become good friends of mine and although I am always open to working with new models – these two are my mainstays!

great body of work….In Titania I like the angle, the gestalt- we have to look up at her . I like the unusual hand gesture and the dimensional depth worked up through the fabulous textural layers and transparencies. I also like the way you rewrite (re-image) and bring into contemporary existence the paranormal, ancient beliefs including gods and goddesses and art history. Strong Gothic and Renaissance feel in some of the work for me- dark tonal renderings, strong contrasts from selective directional lighting to find those fantastic black shadows and the dark, dark, dark. Great stuff.

Extraordinarily beautiful image – I love the “naturalness” of it and the rest of your outstanding portfolio. I read your profile and I couldn’t agree more about how fake most PS composites look and I take my hat off to you for taking the time and effort to assemble models, costumes, etc rather than adding these later – it certainly shows in your art. I’ve decided to take a similar approach with a photoshoot later this month but am finding the logistics a bit of a nightmare.
