  • 45 Years Ago Today by Cora Wandel

President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, 45 years ago today. I was eight years old, and like most people my age and older we will never forget what we were doing when we heard the President had been shot. I learned the news at school as did most children. The Principal came in and solemnly told us and then we bowed our heads in prayer. The entire school then crammed into the only room with a television, and we watched, confused, saddened, and angry. The coverage of President Kennedy’s death is my earliest recollection of television news, and at that time his funeral was the biggest event to be broadcast live in the history of television. Those of us who saw it shall never forget it. There was no school that day, my Dad stayed home from work, and we all sat in the family room and watched the most elaborate and stately Presidential funeral the United States has ever had. This is a photograph of the slained President’s grave site in Arlington National Cemetery. / ___________________________________________________ Camera: Canon Rebel XTi 400D This photograph is “as is” from the camera, there was no post processing

  • Jazz - in E minor by Roger Sampson

My head flies again into thought / as words dart in and out / and my friends are flying with me Sounds of things are sounding big / as an idea is set to turning / and my friends are listening with me A whisper in colors now heard again / as the thought is deepened in my head / and my friends are still beside me Words are placed on paper with pen / as a captured moment is saved / and my friends are reading from me My eyes now closed in quiet calm / as the thought now clearly stated / and my friends are resting with me

About This Group

Welcome!

This group celebrated its first birthday on 28th September – Happy 1st Birthday!
It has been a joy and inspiration hosting it so far! Sharing poetry, creative writing, art and photography.

Last count, we had 1923 members, and still counting! Among the hundreds and hundreds of pages of submitted work, can be found a treasure trove of artisitic talent ,humour, sorrow, passion, and depth often spurred by personal experiences that are significant and meaningful.

I invite you to take the opportunity to let the creative juices flow and share your art, poetry, writing, clothing, images and journals here in this group.

The group is continuously growing at a rapid rate, so, I would like to ask that we submit only 1 – 2 pieces of artwork at a time please.

Let’s try as a group, to aim for quality not quantity. I look forward to sharing more artistic creations. Thanks for your cooperation.
