Tiger Woods by Estelle O'Brien
This is my second linocut – oil based ink on textured Japanese paper. I chose this special paper because it so suited the subject and the contrast of the black ink on the beige and silver paper really lent itself to different pressure in the hand burnishing to produce the shadow effects. I really enjoyed doing this one-I learned a lot from my first one. My design was influenced by BillyLee’s great Girl in a Landscape series. I am a big admirer of Billy’s work and love her attention to detail and the way she gets that dreamy feeling into her prints.

Crows in the playground by kdesignz
This is a reduction print using 4 shades of black/gray and white and one shade of red. This idea just came to me one day and has been the starting point of all my current works which involve birds. Its a bit Alfred Hitchcock inspired, a combination of “The Birds” and “Psycho”.

First of all apologies for the lack of communication. Unfortunately or fortunately (which ever way you look at it) I now have a job!! Together with the fact that my hard working co-host has also been away has made it difficult to keep things up. St. Mary's Catholic Church by thepaintedsoul
The first time I ever tried lithography, this is the image I got. When I decided to tackle the process, I had no idea it would be so complicated. Nor that it may cause a hernia if not done right. This church is in Adair, Missouri, USA. The town has nothing left to it but an abandoned store, two residents, and this forlorn church. It is on the National Historic Register because it is the largest wooden-structured church west of the Mississippi. FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IT, READ ON The local historic preservation group put up a good fight to preserve this building. And last time I went to see the place it was still standing, but the inside was a tormented mess of pews, fallen statues, and debris. They did manage to rid it of the outside support beams holding the left side of th building up at the time I did this litho. Anyway, I decided to tackle the litho. Found the largest piece of Bavarian limestone at the university print room in a nearby town. It measured approximately 30” x 24”. I thought, “WOW! I can make a huge impact with a print that large. In the ensuing two months, I wheeled the stone to perfect smoothness, then paintstakingly drew the church in reverse with a grease pencil. . . and had the university printmaking professor stopping by every day to tell me, “Don’t go too fast or you’ll ruin the final image.” He forgot to tell me to find help when moving the stone from drawing table to cart to printing press. This monster weighed in at around 150 pounds. But at the end of this ordeal I ended up pulling 50 really well-done prints. My problem at this point was that when I left the prints in the drying rack overnight, they would get stolen. I finally wised up and took them home with me to dry. I still have five prints left and a vivid memory of the experience. It was well worth it!

Linocut of my cat, this time without the background, so it looks like it’s block printed straight onto the shirt…

Japanase Windflowers - Chine Colle Woodcut by Belinda "BillyLee" Nye
This method of woodcutting is where you roll up the plate and then adheve tissue paper to certain places, being careful when laying the paper on top then printing through the press. Chine Colle adds something to a print. It can be tricky but well worth the effort.

Farm house in four views with haiku by Ron Moss
These images all came from one original photograph. I have used various processing techniques with scanned items for texture and also a hand painted watercolour sky. They are presented here together as an experiment and they stand alone as indivdual prints as well. Comments most welcomed.

Hi printmaking buddies. Last night at Chisolms End of year open night party I won the award for printmaking. (Big hug to Heather Nye my printmaking teacher) . Now I have a voucher to go to Neil Wallace and buy ink for my studio. I am so wrapt about that because I wanted to do drypoint etchings at home and havn’t the ink. Plus I felt special last night and , well its great to feel rewarded. Last night was a great party for all but I know who had the best time ever and that was ME ME ME. I had a wonderful time.

where it is by Stewart McDonald
This print is a one off . I like the markings that are made in the press and tend not to overwork the print getting something close to the original drawing. / lots of leaves ,sticks etc were used and cut into with a stanley knife to get richer depth of colour. / (Collagraph)

Ok then, I have just received a troubling b-mail. It looks like a blanket letter that may be suspicious. Generally, I am pretty thrilled to communicate with others except this one is a bit fishy. I like the redbubble community because it is not bombbarded with advertisements and the like. Do I need to report this? Or just ignore it? AND FORGIVE ME IF THE LETTER IS HONEST. mY GUT SAYS IT IS NOT…

Divebomber by FayeDoherty
Woodprint which has been printed on Yupo paper that I first hand coloured with watercolour pigments. I have burnished this by hand so it will give a stronger darker image when I put it through a press. I will be studying printmaking next year at Chisholm so am having fun experimenting over the holidays.
