  • Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

  • Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Let me know what ya think! Can ya hear the rustling of the leaves?? / —-John

  • Still Hanging On
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.56–US$121.60

Many trials I overcame / There I remained just the same / Through drought, wind, rain, and hail / I hung there and did not fail The suns face, less I did see / As I hung there on the tree / My beauty then I did show / But struggled not to let go A strong north wind came that day / Force so great I could not stay / On a rock I hang on still / Though the air is starting to chill I hang on for you to see / This is what matters to me / If to you, joy I did bring / It will cause my heart to sing Image made on Porters Creek,Greenbrier section of the Great Smoky Mountain NP ©2008 Gary L. Suddath

  • The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

  • Nature's Splendor
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.47–US$119.32

Fall isn’t to be out done by Spring with all the new beginnings and shades of green. For a brief time it bursts into a splendor of warm color just before the dead of Winter. This is the Middle Prong Little River located in the Tremont section of the GSMNP

  • A Stormy Autumn Colorado’s Longs Peak shrouded in Autumn thunderstorm clouds, stands towering above the quaking Aspen below. This scene was really something to see….the atmosphere was just to die for. The way the contrast played out with the yellow and gold Aspens against that dark sky was astonishing, the light was really changing fast so I had to be fairly quick while shooting this. Processed in HDR, let me know what ya all think! / —-John

  • Sunrise at the height of Autumn captured at Chatfield State Park here in Colorado. You ever run upon a photo that you just wish you could step back into when you shot it? Due to the fact the world seemed so perfect at that moment, and everything was just gorgeous? This is one of those shots for myself. —-—-—-—-—-- / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Morning Has Broken
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.42–US$117.80

Morning has broken, like the first morning / Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird / Praise for the singing, praise for the morning / Praise for the springing fresh from the word Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven / Like the first dewfall, on the first grass / Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden / Sprung in completeness where his feet pass Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning / Born of the one light, Eden saw play / Praise with elation, praise every morning / God’s recreation of the new day lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon

  • Hang Around
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.47–US$119.32

Pull over and rest a while. Don’t let the stress of your daily life and bumper to bumper traffic get you down. Stop and hang around a while. Explore my banks for something missed by the hosts of those rushing by. They give but a glance and often miss my beauty. Let the rushing today, be my waters as they babble on their way. Let my waters and wind be a song in your ears. Hear the quaking of my leaves as they rustle above you. Close your eyes and let me envelop you. See you feel better already ain’t you glad you decided to hang around awhile…..Little River from the side of Little River Road, Great Smoky Mountain N.P.

  • Guardian
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.50–US$120.08

I may seem small compared to the rest of my world,I’m not.I stand alone and guard these fields every day and night. I’ve weathered many a storm and drifts of snow. Those that call my field home, rest in my shade on a hot summer day. The birds of the air, make homes amongst my limbs. I’ve stood bare on a cold winter’s night, and felt the scorching summer sun. I give you beautiful shades of green in spring, and am aflame with color in the fall. I’ve watched people struggle to make ends meet, and enjoy lunch in my shade. I am the Guardian and I endure on. As you pass me by, draw on my strength so that you to can endure Image taken in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountain NP, this would be my favorite tree in the Cove.

  • Newfound Gap Road
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.50–US$120.08

Newfound Gap Road is the portion of US 441 that runs through the Great Smoky Mountain NP. Going between Gatlinburg in Tennessee and Cherokee in NC. It is named for the gap going across the mountain that was found around the late 1800’s. Since it was new they called it New Gap, it had also been called Right Hand Gap….They are 2 tunnels and a 360 degree loop along the road. It mostly follows the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River on the Tn side. They are many pull offs with spectacular views. Hiking trails and fishing offer a more outdoor experience along the way. The Appalachian Trail cross it around Newfound Gap….This view here is just across the mountain from Newfound Gap. It is from the Ocanaluftee Valley Overlook…..They are also picnic areas on either side of the mountain, and historic building on the NC side. The reason you are not charged for visiting the Smokies is because of this road. It was a main road between Tennessee and North Carolina at one time. Part of acquiring the land for the park rested on there not being a charge to cross between the states.
