  • Oink by Luci Mahon

Oink is a buffalo who is 15 years old. He lives about 4 miles from me and he’s a beautiful boy! Sadly, some thugs have been cruel to him, adding washing up liquid to his water, putting mustard on his food, throwing bricks at him, whipping him with fishing rods and setting fire to his hay! Check out his website www.oinkthebuffalo.co.uk Any money made from selling this picture of Oink, will be donated to Oink’s Appeal. A huge thank you to G. R. Fisher for his assistance with this image! • The Sound Harpoon by Art4EartH

A composite artwork depicting the despair of a humpback whale while attempting in vain to escape the pain and agony inflected upon it by modern military sonar (LFAS). / / I hope to make aware with this artwork, an issue that is usually overlooked or ignored when considering and discussing the efforts to protect all the beautiful mammals of the deep. The attention on marine mammal slaughter is too often only focused on the ongoing brutality of Japanese whaling vessels, this due to the graphic nature of the images of the senseless whale slaughter. / / But ponder this for a moment if you will… what fate is worse than death for a whale? / / I feel the answer to this is, when a whale is suffering in such utter and complete agony as it’s own blood boils, that it chooses to fling itself from it’s ocean home and onto a beach to die slowly from dehydration… choosing to die in this manner, rather than endure another moment of torture from the man-made source of it’s agony. / / How incredible the whale’s pain must be… for a whale to choose suicide as a better option. / / PLEASE, take a moment to read the accompanying article by the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) that I have linked below to accompany this artwork. It will help to educate and enlighten you about this important issue regarding protecting the whales and other marine mammals from military LFAS type sonar. I think you will be quite surprised just how dangerous and violently harmful LFAS type sonar actually is! / / NRDC – Protecting Whales from Dangerous Sonar / http://www.nrdc.org/wildlife/marine/sonar.asp / / After you have read this article, then please take another moment to voice your opposition to using LFAS type sonar directly to the US Secretary of the Navy, the Honorable Donald Winter, using this easy and convenient online form provided by the NRDC. Stand up and let your voice make a difference! / / Tell the Navy to stop harming whales with high-intensity sonar / http://www.nrdconline.org/campaign/nrdcaction_092506_a / / All my own proceeds from any sale of this artwork are being donated to the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund. The Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) is a New York City-based, non-profit, non-partisan international environmental advocacy group, with offices in Washington, DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Beijing. Founded in 1970, NRDC today has 1.2 million members and online activists nationwide, and a staff of more than 300 scientists, attorneys, and other specialists. / / Natural Resources Defense Council / http://www.nrdc.org/ / / NRDC Action Fund / http://www.nrdcactionfund.org/ / / Now a few words about the details of the artwork. Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro 8 were used to create this composite artwork. The artwork is a composite of two PD images, ironically provided by two of the governmental agencies that are contributing to the issue depicted in the artwork. / / The submarine image source is a PD image courtesy of the US Department of Defense – DefenseLINK Multimedia Gallery. The whale image source is a public-domain image courtesy of NOAA Photo Library. I have provided links below for both source images. / / Submarine Source Image / http://www.dodmedia.osd.mil/Assets/Still/2007/Navy/DN-SD-07-28560.JPEG / / Whale Source Image / http://www.photolib.noaa.gov/bigs/sanc0601.jpg / / I hope that both the artwork and accompanying article will enlighten you, and help you gain a new found perspective, on just one of the many issues that are currently threatening the existence of our marine mammal friends. / / Thanks for the visit! / / Art4Earth /

  • I Kill Animals by montdragon

The year is 2008 the location is the United States of American the event the election for the Presidency of the United States the date November 4, 2008. Governor Sarah Barracuda Palin of Alaska is the root’n toot’n running mate selected for John Maverick McCain by the extreme Republican Fascist Neocons and the right wing evangelical fundamentalist religious nut jobs…can you get your head wrapped around anyone calling himself a Maverick and his sidekick Sarah Barracuda…if elected this will be The Bush Third Term and Armageddon is just an atomic bomb away…be afraid be very afraid…if you thought George Bush was less than intelligent….John McCain and Sarah Palin are the classic “Dumb and Dumber.” Republican fascism ushered in by George Bush et al just may be extended. The American electorate “is ignorant” they voted BushCo twice and they just might elect another BushCo Republican the Original Maverick and Sarah Barracuda just a hockey mom….no one could have written this surreal scenario and only in America. / Governor Sarah Barracuda Palin kills and guts moose herself, brags about moose burgers and on her salary no doubt she has to hunt to put food on the table….why shop at the supermarket when you can have an adrenal rush the thrill of the kill. Sarah Palin also wants the polar bears off the endangered species list; she sued the American Federal Government to have them removed. Who is Governor Sarah Palin you really need to find out about her position on woman’s rights, foreign affairs, the economy, the environment, religion. One thing for sure Sarah Palin “I Kill Animals” is a fact. / In Alaska hunters fly in planes and shoot wolves and are offered $150 for the wolves’ legs without the pelt, the pelt is worth from $200 to $300. Sarah Barracuda is an avid hunter and has participated in the killing of wolves from a helicopter a more steady aircraft to maximize the kill than an airplane. Not enough wolves have been killed this year and with the cost of fuel the state of Alaska may even pay for the fuel. Animals are slaughtered, tuna for sushi, seals clubbed for pelts, whales, elephants, tigers, wolves the list is endless some try to justify this…others just don’t care they kill to kill. / Sarah Palin is an extreme fundamentalist evangelical Christian and John McCain hums “bomb bomb bomb Iran” John McCain may be The Manchurian Candidate life is stranger than fiction. Do your due diligence search the web will you be surprised.

  • "Save Our Endangered Species" Shirt design by Skye Ryan-Evans

The text on the T Shirt print reads” If We Save Our Endangered Species, We Save Ourselves!” This powerful statement was written especially for this fantasy design featuring half a human face with half a Cheetah face merged as if becoming ONE. As a species, Humans cannot survive without the other animals who share our precious planet. It is a symbiotic relationship. Simply put, we all need each other, wildlife plus wilderness areas plus people! We must co-exist peacefully and with respect if we are all to survive the great changes our planet is going through. To return the World to a state of balance, we must as a species, learn to share with each other and with other creatures. 25% from the sale of this item benefits the great animal protection group WildlifeDirect.org. Thank you for helping me to help them.

  • "Precious" (Mountain Gorillas) by Skye Ryan-Evans

A baby Mountain Gorilla is cradled in the arms of her mother, while her father, a large Silverback Gorilla watches from behind. Created to help raise awareness about the serious plight of the Virunga Mountain Gorillas. These creatures are severely endangered and only 650 or so remain alive in the world today. Most die due to illegal poaching, encroachment onto rainforest habitats by charcoal farmers who burn the rainforest trees down and many die due to vicious acts by warring soldiers fighting between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. All of my Mountain Gorilla artwork is dedicated to raising donations from sales to directly benefit the caring organization Wildlife Direct at wildlifedirect.org. Thank you for helping me to help them. ~ Skye

  • Came across the following online and wanted to share this…I believe it all to be / true!!!! I don’t know who wrote it…but I love it… If a dog was your teacher you would learn stuff like… - When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. - Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. - Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy. - When it’s in your best interest—practice obedience. - Let others know when they’ve invaded your territory. - Take naps and stretch before rising. - Run, romp, and play daily. - Thrive on attention and let people touch you. - Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do. - On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. - On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree. - When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body. - No matter how often you’re scolded, don’t buy into the guilt thing and pout… run right back and make friends. - Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. - Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough. - Be loyal. - Never pretend to be something you’re not. - If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. - When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently. What lessons for us all to learn… Hugs, Sally xxxxxxxoooooooooo

  • My husband & I just returned from a trip to Farm Sanctuary “Farm Sanctuary works to end cruelty to farm animals and promotes compassionate living through rescue, education and advocacy. They envision a world where the violence that animal agriculture inflicts upon people, animals and the environment has ended, and where instead we exercise values of compassion. “ It truly is a compassionate and beautiful place. We volunteered one day during our stay. I did not know what our task would be, but, was excited to hear we were being sent to help clean the barns of the pigs that were rescued from the Iowa flooding. All the animals were amazing. Bertha, the cow, especially stole my heart. I am including a link of a video I put together with the photo’s my husband & I took during our visit. / Enjoy! Video

About This Group

As an avid animal rights activist and vegetarian for over 15 years (and vegan for 2 years), I feel very strongly about the rights and welfare of animals. I also believe that sometimes, in order to get your point across, you have to be graphic. Sometimes that’s just the only way to get people’s attention. Granted, that’s not always the case; but I know it is sometimes necessary. I also like to use humor – that can be effective too. (Especially if you have a twisted sense of humor like me.)

That being said, this group’s focus is to get people’s attention and educate them about the reality of animals and their so-called ‘place’ in our society. This means creating images with messages! Themes can include everything from general pet care and pet adoption to vegetarianism/veganism and zoos – and everything in between. In other words, animals can’t tell us what they think or how they feel; when you create an image, make sure that animal’s voice is loud and clear!
What would they say?

PLEASE read the rules at the bottom of the page.

NOTE: The message MUST be clear. In other words, don’t submit a photo of a puppy and simply state in the description that it means you shouldn’t buy from pet stores. Any image that doesn’t make a statement will be rejected.

I’m hoping to really push some boundaries here, so let’s see what you’ve got!
